Yesterday i started taking 10 mg of lexapro (escitalopram). today had stomach cramps and diarrhea. is this side effect and how long will it last? thanks.

Escitalopram: Yes, it's a very common side effect. Patients generally acclimate to it over time, sometimes by reducing the dose at first and going slowly up as tolerated or taking it with food. The time frame varies but usually in first 2 weeks. Some can't tolerate the GI symptoms and find another medication. There may be other reasons for your symptoms, so contact your md.
