No: No, it is not normal for anyone to experience chest pain. In children, chest pain is most often caused by trauma or pulled muscle. Less common causes include costochondritis and asthma. Heart conditions account for about 3% of children's chest pain.

It is common: Normal? Not normal but very common. Rarely is it cardiac disease, but chest pain should be evaluated to determine if it is a cause for concern. As dr. Park noted it may be asthma or muscle or rib pain.
