Suporrtive care: As long as the child is eating well, staying pink and does not have a fever (rectal temp of 101 or under the arm 100), then salt water up the nose (ayr, nasalide, ocean nose drops) will help. Generally we recommend these babies be seen even if it seems like just a cold...Because of the age. Your doctor may also want to test for a virus called rsv. Continue feeding normally...

Consider this: The first months are troubled by narrow nasal passages & exposure to dust, fragrences, smoke & other irritants.Baby tries to flush these out of the nose with mucous but this often ends as congestion & produces rattling with breathing. The best rx is washing out the nose with saline & suctioning the remainder. Eliminate irritants from babies environment & this will happen less.
