What happens if i don't bond immediately with my child?

Might take time: Bonding is not like epoxy, that only has a few minutes to set. Attachment to another human being often takes time and develops slowly. Your baby will learn about you over time as you provide for its needs. Relax, and one day you will find that that little person in the crib is the most important thing in the world.

No worries: Nothing happens. Depending on delivery...If it was hard, long, painful, a c section... All takes a physical toll on a mom and she may be too tired to "bond immediately". With time and getting to know your little one, you relax and it comes naturally. Many parents are scared initially... But with time, education, relaxation, and experience you find bonding is easy.

Keep open dialogue: This is not rare or worrisome over time for the development of your baby. You need to draw on the support provided by friends and family as you make it through the transition. Many new moms will go through issues that bring on "baby blues", and keeping an open dialogue with your family and doc is very important. This is not a "bad mom" issue you should hide or feel guilty over. Good luck.
