A member asked:

Tops of fingernails turning white and spreading, im hypocondriac and worried! is it anemia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably not: Anemia can be seen in the fingernails, but it manifests as pallor of the nailbed, not the nail tips. If in doubt you can always ask your doctor to check your red cell count. It's not an expensive test. The most common cause of anemia in the world is iron deficiency.
