The Barrett.'s can: Definitely be associated with severe reflux, and to the extent it could produce lung aspiration events it could certainly negatively impact a patient with emphysema. Especially if the aspiration leads to pneumonia.

Yes: Barret's is a result of gerd, reflux disease or gerd is associated with exacerbation of asthma and copd. While the DX of barret's is not directly the culprate for COPD exacerbation, the association with gastric reflux disease is.
