Heat: There are rare circulation issues that can lead to distended veins but these are in fact rare. Exercise, and excessive body heat can lead to vein dilation to cool your body. Also the large and more toned the muscles are the more visible the veins.

It's not your skin: If your veins have become more pronounced, it is because of something going on with your veins and not because your skin is normal or abnormal. As dr. Wright said, it probably has to do with heat, blood flow, exercise, and your state of hydration. If you have any discomfort associated with the change in the appearance of your veins, i would recommend that you see a vein specialist.
