I have hereditary neuropathy. would having a breast reduction cause permanent nerve damage?

Rather unlikely: If you have a skilled plastic surgeon, or a breast specialist, suspect all will go smoothly, and you will not be especially at risk for complications. Just let them know of your history, as sometimes neuro-muscular blockade agents are employed, and you could have delayed recovery if used.

DOUBTFUL: It's unlikely that a reduction mammoplasty would cause permanent nerve damage, despite your hereditary condition. Please seek the advice of a qualified plastic surgeon. Good luck.

Depends...: I do not think that your hereditary neuropathy will be a contraindication to proceeding with breast reduction surgery. Your neurologist will likely be your best resource when it comes to obtaining “clearance” for the procedure. " nerve damage” is always possible ( for example loss of sensation…) with any type of surgery including breast reduction surgery.
