Breast feeding: A breast abscess usually follows mastitis which occurs in 10% of nursing mothers ususlly in the early weeks of breast feeding. It is usually caused by the bacteria staphylococcus aureus. It requires incision and drainage with appropriate antibiotic treatment based on culture of the pus.
