Depends on type...: There are many types of leukemia (all, aml, cml, cll) with different treatment regimens. Once diagnosis confirmed, chemotherapy is the mainstay of treatment (length and intensity depend on type). Sometimes radiation therapy is also required, and sometimes a bone marrow transplant is needed for cure. On the other side of the spectrum, CML can be controlled with oral pills taken daily.
