Easy: I assume you are talking about skin sutures. I usually ask patients to keep the dressing applied at the time of suture placement until the next morning. If there was no dressing, i still ask the patient to refrain from wetting the wound until the next morning and then he/she may get in the shower just fine. I do ask them, though, to avoid vigorous rubbing the sutured wound.

Stitches : You should be able to bath your child within 12-24 hours after stitches. If it got wet, dry it up and cover it with bandaid.
