Hypertension: Is defined as a blood pressure above 140 over 90. In diabetics above 135 over 90. Both are significant and can are disease that can cause end organ damage.

Hypertension: Both numbers are important. The top number known as systolic blood pressure is very important and the major cause of premature heart disease. The bottom number which is known as diastolic pressure is also very important . Ideal blood pressure is having both numbers below normal range . An ideal blood pressure would be close to 120/80.
