What do think of a child with webbed fingers and toes?

Depends on severity: A mild amount of fusion between the 3rd and 4th digits on the feet, or accentuated webbing between any digits, can be and usually is quite normal. However, if there is severe webbing, or if there is fusion affecting the function of the hand or foot, then a referral to a specialist is in order. Often there's a family history of such webbing.

Syndactaly: This is a developmental flaw that occurs around the second month of pregnancy. Sometimes it is genetic, but there is no evidence that it is caused by anything the mother does during pregnancy. Minor cases don't interfere with use, but more involved cases usually can be surgically corrected.

Makes them unique: This is generally more of a cosmetic concern. It can, however, be addressed surgically. Discuss the risks and benefits with a surgeon and weigh them carefully before undergoing this, or any, surgery.
