A member asked:

I cut a chunk out of my thumb and went to the er. they put sergifoam in the evulsion and bandaged it up. my skin healed over it. that bad?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: A doctor will need to remove the material from your thumb. It is not a major procedure and may require some local anesthetic or not since it is right near the surface. The missing chunk of your thumb may actually fill back in after that. The important thing was to stop the bleeding with the foam.
