3-4 weeks: Typically takes the nerves to degenerate up to 3-4 weeks and therefore pain or recovery may take that long.

A week ago I had radiofrequency ablation on bi-lateral L3,4&5. My Dr says it will take 3-4 weeks to help. What I cant understand is why if the nerves been burnt off & severed why isnt the pain relief instant as the nerves cant send signals anymore?
