Babies and peanuts: Because of the risk of choking, it is not safe to feed babies peanuts. Choking on peanuts is the cause of many visits to the emergency room each year.

Peanut allergies: Another good reason to delay feeding peanuts (and peanut butter) to a baby is that peanut allergy is fairly common and can be extremely serious. For that reason, it is recommended to not feed children peanuts or peanut butter until after their first birthday to allow their immune system to develop a bit more.
