Something is wrong : Anytime you are bleeding abnormally you should get evaluated. There could be a life threatening problem like a tubal pregnancy. If there is no ectopic bleeding midcycle lessens the chances of getting pregnant and would indicate possibly hormonal problems, uterine polyps, or an abnormal ovulation.
