A member asked:

I had a positive reading from a bubble echo cardiogram can you please tell me what exactly this means?

Hole in heart?: Micro bubbles are generally used to detect shunts ( a hole ) between the right and left side of the heart. However, bubble studies can also detect pulmonary shunts and define endocardial borders. I am guessing your study was done to detect whether or not you had an atrial septal defect. Such a defect can lead to abnormal pressures and can contribute to stroke.
