Sinus congestion: Best is to find out what is causing the sinus congestion. There are several possibilities. See your doctor for diagnosis and treatment.

OTC is ok: If this is a short duration problems (< 1 week) then over the counter (otc) medications like mucinex, (guaifenesin) robitussin, or other cough and cold remedies are fine. Read and follow the labels, as even otc meds can be harmful. If this is a longer term problem see your pcp or ENT as there could be a need for prescription type medications. Best wishes.

Sinus Congestion: Oral decongestants, such as pseudoephedrine, and saline nasal flushes may help relieve sinus congestion. Most of the otc antihistamines combine a decongesant, such as Allegra d, zyrtec d, and Claritin d. Prescription nasal steroid sprays work the best. Go see your primary care health provider to discuss what's best for you.
