Perhaps: Oral contraceptives aren't necessarily effective during the first month. Other forms of birth control are appropriate during the first cycle. If you are just starting on the pill, it would depend when your period was due as to when you were due to ovulate. If you started properly on the fifth day of your period, day one would not be the time you ovulated. However, impregnation is still possible.
