Assessing risks: Your doctor will take your family history to help assess if you or your baby are at risk for certain diseases. Some diseases like cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia and tay-sachs are inherited. If these disease run in your family you may need extra testing. Your family helps give us more information about you so that we can put a plan together to keep you and your baby safe.
