Rectal urgency: The symptoms you are describing can be caused by a condition called ulcerative proctitis and warrant evaluation by a GI specialist. This would normally include basic blood work and an endoscopic exam (sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy). Other causes of rectal inflammation should be considered based on your medical history. Rarely, a rectal cancer could cause such symptoms. Please see a doctor!
