Varicose veins: Varicose veins are bulging veins that can cause cramping, restless legs, heaviness, swelling in the ankles or legs. If the cramping feels deep in the thigh, you should go see a phlebologist and have a venous ultrasound of your leg. You want to prevent a superficial blood clot called phlebitis and a deep vein thrombosis. Look up www.Phlebology.Org and find a doctor to examine you.

Thigh VV: What your are describing are varicose veins in the thigh which frequently cause symptoms of aching, cramping and pain. You should see a vein specialist for a full venous evaluation including a venous duplex ultrasound to look at the valves in the saphenous system of veins. This problem can be easily treated by an office procedure.
