Herpes: Herpes is a sexually transmitted infection caused by a virus. There are two types, hsv1 and hsv2. Hsv1 typically causes cold sores on the lips, while hsv2 affects the genitals. While there is no "cure", there are many effective treatments (acyclovir, valacyclovir, etc...) that can help to prevent or shorten outbreaks.
