Not sure: Use of antibiotics depend on the bacteria causing the infection. Urine should be sent to the lab for culture to finfd the organism and then sensitivity of the organism to the antibiotics is assessed. Based on the results, antibiotics should be prescribed. A broad spectrum antibiotic eg. Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) may be tried by a physician, without c&s. Tx of std is similar & depends on the organism involved.

This antibiotic combination suggests treatment for gonorrhea (with ceftriaxone, the shot) and/or chlamydia (treated with doxycycline). Both also would eliminate syphilis. They would treat most UTIs, if you had one, but gonorrhea and chlamydia also can cause UTI symptoms. The treatment had no effect on other common STDs. Discuss with the doctor or clinic where you were treated. Good luck.
