I was diagnosed with sinusitis a week ago and was given augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate). now i have a deep dry cough that causes me to be sob. could these be related ?

Cough: The four common causes of cough: post nasal drip (a potential sequelae of sinusitis), asthma, gastroesophageal reflux, & infection (also a possible sequelae of sinusitis). Interestingly, bronchitis often has a reactive airway component that leads to wheezing & sob. Recommend f/u w your doc as maybe you have developed bronchitis from PND & spread of infection & maybe need a bronchodilator.

Not sure: While you were taking the augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) were you also taking a decongestant for your sinuses? If so this may be a cause. Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is an antibiotic. Most side effects include nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, etc. Allergic reactions (especially penicillin allergies) may also occur.
