Many causes: Depending on the underlying cause, most cases of itchy eyes can be successfully treated. Most common causes are allergies, dry eye, and blepharitis. See an eye md to help determine the underlying cause, and seek treatment advice. Often a drop such as an artificial tear, otc or rx drop for allergies, sometimes a short course of a mild topical steroid, is prescribed. Cool compresses can be helpful.

Depends on the cause: There are many causes of itchy eyes. Several types of inflammatory conditions, allergic reactions, detergents, chemicals, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause itchy eyes. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

Cool compresses!: Use cool compresses and place refrigerated artificial tears in eyes. Zaditor (ketotifen) is a fairly good over the counter allergy drop. If that does not work, see an ophthalmologist for a prescription allergy eye drop!
