See below: Both are muscle relaxers. Both have the same adverse effects. My experience is that skelaxin (metaxalone) is less sedating than flexeril.

Flexeril & skelaxin (metaxalone): Skelaxin) is thought to act by suppressing postsynaptic spinal cord and trigeminal reflexes. Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl) is TCA with centrally acting muscle relaxants properties.
