First product.......: Antibiotic ointments are heavily marketed, available and used for first product on a new wound. They are oil based. The antibiotics they contain; not prescription. Wash the wound with mild soap, rinse well with water, hairdryer the area, cover with gauze and get to your doc with a serious wound. Occasionally wound care gets delayed by hopes the antibiotic ointment will cure.
