Swollen lymph glands: Swollen lymph glands are equivalent to lymphadenopathy. This is normally a body's response to infection. Even a common cold or tooth infection can cause these glands to enlarge. Persistent enlarged glands need more formal investigation. More rarely than infection- cancers can cause persistent lymphadenopathy
