Who needs +5 reading glasses?

High powered readers: +5 is a very high powered reading lens, more than twice as strong as normal reading glasses for a 50 year old. The reading power is added to the distance rx to get a final power. So, if a person had a distance rx of +3.00, and a +2.00 reading power, that would add up to +5.00 total. If the vision is less that 20/20, high power gives more magnification. Or, if working very close (8 inches).

Low vision patients: Short working distance, poor vision patients, more magnification.
