Its possible, but...: Infections of the kidney usually present with fever & flank pain and are usually not subtle, except in certain more rare cases such as diabetes or immunecompromise. There are cases of chronic, smoldering infections of the kidney, but usually not in young, healthy individuals. If you are concerned about infection, visit your physician for a history, physical, and possibly some tests if indicated.
