Spinal stenosis: Spinal stenosis implies that your spinal canal, where the cord resides, is very narrow. This could lead to neurological problem. Let's hope not in your case.

Ambiguous..: Spinal stenosis compresses the spinal cord or peripheral nerve roots. So, there is "less" room for nerves to move freely even after their inflammation is relieved following a steroid injection. The word "small" you heard may have been a reference to narrowed spaces through which your nerves pass due to osteoarthritis. Don't hesitate to clarify the wording used during your procedure. Don't be shy!
