Various disorders: Recurrent pregnancy loss is defined as 2 losses any time during a pregnancy. Factors can range from hormonal, anatomical, to hematologic clotting disorders. A majority of these factors can be corrected to have a successful pregnancy outcome.

Miscarriage: At 42, there may be many reasons why a fertilized egg does not survive in the uterus. Failure of the fertilized egg to receive enough sustaining progesterone by the ovary (via the corpus luteum) may cause early miscarriage (prior to ten weeks of pregnancy). Other causes may be discovered by a pelvic ultrasound exam. Ask your OB physician about oral progesterone until week 12 of pregnancy.
