Maybe an abscess: If this lump is red and tender it may be an abscess. This should be opened and treated by a doctor.

Does not make sense.: Spider bites cause big red marks, sometimes with skin breakdown. Whatever that large mass is, it's not from the spider bite, and should be examined by your doctor.
