Many possibilities : Inflammation is a common element of many eye problems, and certainly infection. The treatment of the infection decreases the inflammation. Often combined treatments for both infection & inflammation are carried out together depending on what the problem is. The outcome on vision may be excellent to impairment, again depending upon the disease severity and duration.

Nothing or: Inflammatory eye disease can be self limiting or a manifestation of other organ or systemic disease. This can be associated with reiter's syndrome, lupus, sle, etc this can be associated with sarcoid, pulmonary disease, etc. This may need to be evaluated by more than an ophthalmologist.
