Numerous things: Muscle spasms can be caused by insufficient water intake for ur needs (most people live their existence in a subtly dehydrated state), electrolyte imbalance (like low potassium when on a diuretic), use of a statin for cholesterol problem, a sign of various muscle disorders (also known as myopathies), a virus, etc. Once again, a good internist who listens to the whole history will have the answer.

Nervous tics?: You need a thorough neurological evaluation. Muscle twitching may be a normal variation or a sign of a serious neurological disorder. I can not diagnose you but i can suggest you get referred for a good evaluation. Certain medications, metabolic, and hormonal imbalance may cause tics. You need a diagnosis and then a plan of management.
