Why do my ears both get red and hot sometimes?

Doctor can evaluate: Some people's ears reddened and quite warm, off and on for no apparent reason. This happens when the blood flow to the ears is increased. Some people have such symptoms with allergic reactions, embarrassment, stress, anxiety, changes in ambient temperature, or maybe even certain foods or drinks. Doctors can evaluate for a medical problem in which "vasoactive" chemicals are flowing in the blood.

Flushing: The redness and hot feeling is the result of dilation of tiny capillaries. This vasodilation could be caused by temperature changes, hormonal factors, anxiety, certain foods, beverages or medications. If the flushing reaction is accompanied by elevations of blood pressure or heart rates otherwise unexplainably, consult an endocrinologist for appropriate testing.
