A member asked:

What is the best and definitive way to test for chlamydiophylia pneumoniae?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

PCR: Polymerase chain reaction and direct antigen testing are quite good, but not generally available. It is not usually necessary to definitively diagnose this infection. Community acquired pneumonia is usually treated quite succesfully with empiric antibiotics.
