Lack of red cells.: Anemia is a lower than normal concentration of hemoglobin in blood. Hemoglobin is carried by red blood cells, and our test measures the total amount of HGB carried by all red cells in a volulme of blood. A low white blood cell count is leukopenia, and a low platelet count is thrombocytopenia.

Anemia: Anemia is condition where your hemoglobin concentration is below the normal range for you. Normal range will depend on your gender and depends on the value used by the laboratory/institution. There are different kinds of anemia ( microcytic , normocytic, macrocytic ) and there are many causes of anemia from deficiency of certain nutrient, destruction of red blood cells, marrow failure, bleeding etc.
