Anti nuclear Ab: Briefly, anti dna antibodies are antinuclear antibodies that are used in the diagnosis of the autoimmune disease systemic lupus erythematosis, sle. There are antibodies against double stranded dna and single stranded dna. The former is useful in the case of sle. It is probably released from dying cells in a process that appears to be defective in this disease. This is fairly specific to sle.
