Weakness: Paralysis is loss of muscle function for one or more muscles. Paralysis can be accompanied by a loss of feeling (sensory loss) in the affected area if there is sensory damage as well as motor. Weakness is described by the term paresis and occurs when partial loss of function occurs. Plegia refers to complete loss or paralysis. Weakness can occur from damage to muscle or nerve or both.
