Super Important!: The health of your gums is intimately related to the health of your bone. If the gums are unhealthy, then the bone beneath becomes unhealthy, and you lose bone support of your teeth. So the question you are asking is, "how important is it to have a foundation on a house?" the answer is abundantly self evident. Please floss and brush daily, and visit a dentist at least every 6 mo. Good luck.

Extremely important: Healthy gums form a seal around teeth protecting them from bacteria, inflammation and infection that can lead to bone loss and gum recession around the roots of teeth. This can lead to teeth loosening and eventually the lost of the teeth. See your dentist for a good examination.
