Relapses: Sometimes you feel better before the infection is completely eradicated. If you stop the antibiotic too soon the incompletely treated infection will relapse and you will become sick again. In strep throat you frequently feel better after a few days of penicillin treatment but it is well known that it takes 10 days of treatment to eradicate the strep from your throat and prevent rheumatic fever.
