Metabolism!: Women have approximately a liver one half the volume of males. Therefore a women's capacity to metabolize alcohol is about one half that of a man. Blood alcohol levels will be higher and lead to intoxication, if a woman drinks what a man has. One drink a day for a woman equals two for a man. This is the optimum for health. Women also need to drink more slowly to avoid spikoing blood levels!

Size: Many things affect men and women differently based on size and weight. So a 6'0" male who weighs 200 lbs and a 5'0" female weighing 100# will have differnet amounts of food, drink, weights that they can tolerate....Hence moderation is different for the two.
