Could be: While most sinusitis starts as a virus, it can change to a bacterial infection after 5-7 days. If you are having significant fever, headache, or shortness of breath be seen right away. If your symptoms are resolving before 5-7 days it may be a virus and no further therapy is needed. If it worsens or persists beyond this time, you will need antibiotics.

Green Sputum: Yes, it could be a sinus infection. We always worry about pneumonia, but if you feel generally well, have no fever or chest pain, and can breath normally, you most likely do not have pneumonia. Sinus infections can respond to decongestants and nasal saline, but persistent ones may require antibiotics. Otc cough suppressants can help your cough, especially at night, and tylenol (acetaminophen) can help the ha.
