What is the definition or description of: androstenedione?

"andro": Androstenedione was being marketed as an over the counter suppliment to increase serum testosterone levels. I am not sure of its effectiveness, but i think the fda took the product off the market. Dhea, or dihydroepiandrostenone is still available, usually dosed in 25 to 50 mg. And is used for the same purpose. It is probably at least minimally effective.

Steroid: This is a testosterone precursor that gets broken down in to both testosterone and estrogen. It can be dangerous to your health and is a banned substance by all major athletic governing bodies.
