What are the signs of a nasal fracture?

Pain: A nasal bone fracture hurts. Breathing can be made difficult from nasal obstruction for displaced bone or swollen tissue. A noticeable lum, bump, depression, or change in appearance also helps.

Shape change or not: Signs (the appearance) of a nasal fracture can be change in shape, bleeding, bruising, swelling, or sometimes none of those. Signs are different than symptoms (what you feel)- these often include pain, blockage/congestion, numbness. Some patients have fractures, but no symptoms at all. Early exam and treatment (within 1 week) is most important to avoid hidden complications or long term problems.
