Is there a way to tell if the pain is caused by arthritis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Arthritis pains: You cannot tell if a pain is muscular vs due to arthritis without examining a patient. And even then it may require a therapeutic challenge. Some patient with fibromyalgia have as much or more pain than is seen with arthritis. 30% of patient have severe pain with minor arthritis, and more than half the patients with significant arthritis have no pain. This is where the art of medicine may apply.
