Other choices: There are several other antihistamines that are options. These include Cetirizine (zyrtec), levo-cetirizine (xyzal) fexofenadine (allergra), and des-loratadine (clarinex). It's not clear why some antihistamines seem to work better for some people than others, but these are worth a try. Also, there is a nasal spray antihistamines including Astepro which works really well for some people.

Yes: Doxylamine has anti-allergy power superior to almost every other antihistamine on the market, with the exception of Diphenhydramine (benadryl), which is also sedating. Other than claritin/loratadine, there are other non-sedating antihistamines such as allergra (fexofenadine). Zyrtec (cetirizine) (ceterizine) is generally non-sedating although ~5% feel sedated with it.
